Gina Lanza Kane has been a licensed mental health counselor in the behavioral health field for over 30 years and is owner/operator of Compass Counseling Associates in Estero, Florida. Gina is a certified clinical supervisor, a national board certified counselor, and a disaster critical incident responder. Her primary specialty is providing therapy for the therapist and clinical supervisor, as well as discreet and private tele-health services. She is a graduate of Columbia University, University of Central Florida, and University of South Florida.
Gina is a compassionate, authentic and empathetic counselor. She draws on highly respected clinical skills, professional judgment, decision making and interpersonal skills to help her clients. Her empathy for clients and their needs is obvious. She combines human warmth and genuineness. Her approach is person-centered and goal-directed, treating the whole person. Gina's treatment modalities include cognitive behavioral therapy, solutions-focused therapy, and mindfulness. She uses a comprehensive approach with treatment planning and psychological assessments, and works closely with a client's medical provider if needed.
Her areas of expertise include issues affecting women and their significant others, mood disorders, relationship issues, stress management, life transition, empowerment, assertiveness training, life coaching, grief work and skills training, providing individual and couples counseling as well as therapy for therapists. In addition, Gina has worked as a consultant with Naples Community Hospital and Catholic Charities, developing a variety of programs. She has also worked as a program therapist in a psychiatric hospital, various shelters, and community mental health agencies.
Gina is actively involved with her community. She is a member of the Florida Mental Health Counseling Association, and one of the founding members of the Gulf Coast Chapter. She is also a past clinical member of the Mental Health Association of Collier County. Team Compass Counseling has participated in the Susan G. Komen Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness.
